Gimmy - Things Look Different Now - Vinyl LP

The solo project of Byron Region female artist, GIMMY (pronounced "gimmie") brings a diverse flavour to the table with sways of surf-garage, indie-rock and glimpses of folk. Recorded with Sam Joseph (King Gizzard, Babe Rainbow, Nice Biscuit) between his cabin studio in Byron hinterland and Gemma’s 1920’s style house in Mullumbimby, throughout 2022/23, the debut album is soaked in 80s and 90s nostalgia, with the band bringing together an eclectic collection of songs that weaves garage and surf rock, post-punk, folk and indie rock together, through GIMMY’s stunning voice, Australian charm and unique songwriting. Even with its musical diversity, the band’s debut is above all; an emotional, thought induced record, full of feelings that is presented with honesty and humour that is impossible not to enjoy.
In the short space of her career, GIMMY has had widespread recognition, including Triple J, which earned the band a spot on the main stage at Splendour In The Grass 2023 through winning the Triple J Unearthed competition. Known for their energising and charismatic live shows, the four-piece has been scaling the Australian east coast sharing the stage with some of the country's best artists such as The Murlocs, Bad Dreams, Floodlights, Maple Glider, Nice Biscuit and Canada's TOPS, as well as winning hearts at Brisbane's Bigsound 2023.
