Bonny Light Horseman - Bonny Light Horseman LP

1. Bonny Light Horseman is a supergroup of indie-folk creating ripples in the music world! The trio featuring Anaïs Mitchell (vocals), Fruit Bats mastermind Eric Johnson, and producer/multi-instrumentalist Josh Kaufman (The National, War On Drugs) debuted at Newport Folk Festival and released their single with The National's Aaron Dessner on guitar. They've now teamed up with Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) and the Dessner brothers for their eponymous album on 37d03d Records (People Records). 60% of the album was recorded in Berlin's Funkhaus, while the rest was laid down at Dreamland Studios in Woodstock, NY. Traditional folk songs from the British Isles are given a fresh twist in Bonny Light Horseman's reimaginings. The excellent second single, "Deep In Love", started as a Fruit Bats sketch but Kaufman recognized its similarities to the traditional tune. This one take recording was done in the wee hours.
